The Moama-based Murray Steamers team finished second to the Sydney Lions in last week’s Australian Premier League lawn bowls event, held in Brisbane.
After beating the Lions in the first semi-final, the Steamers — featuring Michael Walker, Ryan Bester and Ellen Ryan, coached by Barry Brennan — went down 16-10 over two sets in the decider.
It was the Sydney side’s first APL title.
Bester was named most valuable player of the tournament by the opposing team coaches.
