YMCA back nine
THIS week saw a pairs event sponsored by the Harvest Hotel Echuca played at the YMCA back nine social club.
M. Beard and M. Duffet took out the A grade on 35.3 ahead of runners-up J. Miller and A. Evans.
In the mixed, G. Leokie and B. Phillips were able to just sneak in the win on 36.3 ahead of J. Hewitt and H. Makin (36.7).
The women’s was won by R. Bowman and M. Muirhead on 47.
Straightest drives went to A. Evans (A grade), M. Quinlan (B grade) and J. DeKorbe (over 70) in the mens and J. Todd (A grade) and C. Shultz (B grade) for the women.
E. Qualman was nearest the pin on the sixth for the men, while the women’s nearest the pins went to J. Todd, fourth, and G. Peacock, sixth.
Rich River men’s
TOM Chadwick, and Gary Butler combined beautifully to win the 4BBB stableford event on the west course on Tuesday, March 28, with an excellent score of 50 points.
Peter McLaughlin and John Veitch were hot on their heels.
Everyone knows Steve Presser could never win a long drive competition but he did manage to claim two of the nearest the pins.
It would appear from the winners of the nearest the pin on the eighth that you could only win it if your name was John.
There were 140 with 42 points winning a voucher.

John Burrows had the score of the day on Thursday, March 30, with an excellent six-up in the par event.
Jayden Dixon continued his good form and Steve Edwards won A grade.
Big hitting Ivan Kirkby eagled the par five sixth hole.
There were 154 players with square winning a voucher.

Gary Bennett blew the field away on Saturday to win the Privilege Cup with a fine 43 stableford points.
Rob Kilgour and Alan Guy won B and C grade respectively and were not far behind Bennett.
Gerry Allen will be all smiles after winning the super-pin on the fourth.
There were 175 players in the field with 35 points winning a voucher.

Sunday socialites was held again with 60 players turning up to enjoy a stableford event on the east course followed by a light lunch.
This new event is starting to become very popular not only for couples but lots of members just putting their name down and joining in.

Rich River women’s
ROSALIE Drill (-1) was the winner of division one’s Par round on the east course on Wednesday.
Runner-up was Bernie Smith (-2) on a countback from Marion Whatley.
In division two Felicity Douglas (plus 1) was first on a countback from Marie Collins.
Melva Howell (square) was third.
Division three saw Elaine Roberts (+3) with the score of the day followed by Ruth Turpin (+2).
Lorraine Bowman (+1) was third.
The ball rundown went to minus one.
Nearest the pins on the 16th east were won by Lyn James and Lorraine Healey.
Second shot was Josie Kirkman on the 13th hole.
Rosey Devlin claimed the Super pin on the eighth.
The Ladies’ Committee sponsored today’s event.
The ladder in the women’s premier league, after six rounds, remains the same as last week.
Pitch Perfect, with five wins, are on top with Lee’s Legends, also with five wins, close behind.
A nine hole par round was also played on Wednesday.
The winner was Megan Murdoch (-1) followed by Carol West (-4).
Thirty-two women competed in Saturday’s Stableford event.
The winner for the day was Pam Heywood (36 points).
Jennifer Putna (35) was runner-up on a countback from Rita Freestone.
The ball rundown went to 32 points.
Heather Gunstone won nearest the pin.
The super pin was won by Deb Bawden.
A field of 32 played a nine hole round of stableford on the west course on Monday.
In division one Robyn Dyson was the winner with 19 points.
Runner-up Ros Pellegrino (18).
In division two there was a close result with Lyn Bailey (16) winning on a countback from Heather Freeman (16).
The ball rundown went to 17.
Robyn Dyson topped off her win with the nearest the pin on the eighth West.
Second shot was Shirlie Jackson on the eighth hole.
