ECHUCA Racing Club will hold an additional meeting on Thursday, July 27 following a revised schedule to race meetings at Seymour.
Racing Victoria (RV) confirmed the decision to transfer three meetings from Seymour after the cooler months have slowed consolidation of its racing surface.
Wangaratta will hold two of the meetings on Thursday, June 22 and Tuesday, September 19 so allowing the track more time to recover.
It’s come following major renovations last year with the track re-opening in November 2016.
Since that time the club has hosted seven race meetings plus trials, but the industry has agreed to take a conservative approach leading into winter.
Program changes have also been made with the 2200m maiden plate now to be run over 2100m at Echuca.
The prizemoney remains unchanged at $23,000, the final BM70 handicap over 1600m at $30,000.
RV said the decision was precautionary and assured there was nothing to suggest the track is unsafe to conduct racing, but racing at Seymour would be better off long-term.
