GV veterans

ON MONDAY 90 veteran golfers enjoyed excellent conditions in the sunshine at Hill Top Golf and Country Club.

The day was sponsored by Rushworth Community Bank. Thanks to Kevin Livingston for his assistance in presenting the trophies to the winners.

Michael Downs (Hill Top) took out A grade with 37 points from Tom McConchie (Parklands) on a countback with 35.

B grade was won by Bob Wildes (Hill Top) with 41 with Leo Hartup (Kialla) runner-up on 38.

C grade winner was Roy Parrott (Kialla) on 42 from Wally Sinclair (Euroa) with 37.

Nearest the pin was not contested.

Golf ball winners were Graham Scott, William Green, Gary Windsor, Peter Barrette, John Boruch, Frank McIntyre, Gary Bow, Martin Schofield, Laurie Stewart, Syd Roughsedge, Len Adams, Trevor Allen, Tony Borrelli, Terry White, Peter Lahiff, Len Drill, George Benham, Doug Barber, Doug Bray, Don Ducksbury, Vin Kanizay, Rex Howell, John King and Kevin Taylor.

Rich River men’s

IT WAS a four man Puttose event which was decided by a countback on Tuesday, June 13.

David Cockroft, Joe Cardan, Ron Meikle and Alan Curtis combined well to take the honours.

There were 111 in the field on the west course.

On Thursday, June 15 committee men Joel Watson and Ted Fordham must have done the results on Thursday as both were on the winners list in the stroke event.

A fine 75 off the beater from Joel saw him beat the in-form Ivan Kirkby.

Ted won B grade on a countback from Peter Blackmore and in C grade it was a three-way countback with Richard Jaworski coming out on top.

There were 159 on the west course with net 72 winning a voucher.

New-comer Chris Sanders won the monthly medal with a fine score in C grade on Saturday, his handicap is on the way down in a big way.

Sean Slattery had the scratch score of the day with a one over par 73.

Nathan Richards won A grade with Pottsy Webber following up the Saints win on Friday night with a win of his own.

There were 152 in the field with net 72 winning a voucher.

In the Goulburn Valley District Golf Association winter pennant Rich River had a successful start to their season with the three wins out of four.

Sean Slattery and Glenn Rogers followed up their good form from Saturday to win their games to give the division one side a winning start to the year.

Division 1: Rich River 4 defeated Cobram 1. Sean Slattery Won 5 and 3, Glenn Rogers Won 20th, Steve Jones Won 3 and 1, David Pearson Won 2 and 1 and Blair Christie lost 6 and 4.

Division 2: Rich River 2 lost to Ky Parkland 3. Jason Scott Won 3 and 1, Nathan Richards Won 3 and 1, Jayden Dixon Lost 21st, Dave Kelly Lost 2 down and Steve Presser Lost 8 and 6.

Division 4: Rich River 5 defeated Mooroopna 0. Simon Putna Won 1 up, Joel Watson Won 1 up, Nick Raftellis Won 5 and 3, Ian Yeo Won 5 and 3 and Alan McKinlay Won 4 and 3.

Division 6: Rich River 3 defeated Ky Parkland 2. Aaron Loader Won 6 and 4, Ted Fordham Won 1 up, Steve Robinson Won 2 and 1, Ross Taylor Lost 2 and 1 and John King Lost 4 and 3.

Rich River women’s

CONGRATULATIONS to our four 2017/18 Rich River Ladies Golf champions.

After three rounds of keenly contested stroke and stableford, the winners were decided on Wednesday.

A back-to-back win saw Rosalie Drill take out the open title, Fran Galvin won bronze one, Liz McKinlay won bronze two and Suzan Hutton was the bronze three winner.

On Wednesday a stroke round was played in conjunction with the final round of the women’s annual championships.

Eighty-four women participated on the west course.

Division 1: 1, Maree Ciavarella (net 74). 2, Joy Kelly (76). 3, Marion Whatley (77).

Division 2: 1,Lorraine De Ravin (73). 2, Fran Galvin (74). 3, Lyn Kingston (75).

Division 3: 1, Allie Serafini (70). 2, Mandi Stannard (75). 3, Heather Berryman (78).

The ball rundown went to 75 and Carol Eddy claimed both the nearest the pin and the second shot on the fourth west.

The super pin was won by Pam Talbot on the 13th hole.

Barbara Duke was the winner of the nine hole stableford round with 18 points, runner-up was Maureen Berg (17).

The ladies committee sponsored the event.

Marion Whatley had a day out on Saturday winning the par round on the west course with 74 net, and consequently the fourth round of the star award.

She also claimed the nearest the pin on the eighth hole to round off her day.

Felicity Douglas was runner-up on a countback (74) and Karen Fitzgerald was third (75), whose long and accurate driving won her the super pin on the 13th west.

Thirty-five played and the ball rundown went to 78 net.

A nine hole par round was played on the east course on Monday with 21 ladies participating.

Division 1: 1, Beryl Clack (+1). 2, Ruth Turpin (square).

Division 2: 1, Ros Pellegrino (+2). 2, Kay Sargentson (-1).

Leonie Dunne won the second shot on the 16th east.

YMCA back nine

THIS WEEK’S YMCA back nine social club was a par round sponsored by KFC Echuca.

K Rowman recorded the best A grade round (plus 2) and the straightest drive with N Hodge runners-up on square and G. Torpey in 3,.

B Mudd scored plus-three in the men’s B grade to take the win, L. Edwards was runner-up on countback from S. Clover (both -2).

E Qualman was the over 70 straightest drive and nearest the pins went to Hodge on the fourth and Clover on the sixth.

In the women’s R Bowman took out A grade with plus-two, C Shultz recorded the same score to take the B grade honors and P Reyment was close behind on square.

L Alchin had the straightest drive and G Barbour was nearest the pin on the fourth and R Bowman, sixth.
