THIS AUGUST Echuca-Moama Field and Game’s monthly shoot was sponsored by TRU-test Inspection Services, held on Sunday, August 20.
Eighty-four shooters travelled from far and wide to tackle Mick Keirl’s course, consisting of 37 targets in the first round, followed by 38 targets in the second round.
Keirl set nine stations for shooters to test their skills, with station three providing a high crossing target thrown from the club’s big truck, followed by an incoming crow through the trees, then a report pair with the crow thrown first, and the truck following after the shooters first shot was fired.
Station five proved to be a challenge for many shooters, with a ‘bee’ target thrown, which is only 60mm in diameter, compared to a standard target which is 110mm in diameter.
The bee was followed by a high target from the club’s tower to the right, then a report pair.
A rabbit target was waiting for shooters at station eight, with shooters standing on a hill and shooting down at it.
This was followed by an incoming target, then a sim pair, which sees both targets thrown simultaneously.
Mick Keirl proved too good on the day, shooting a perfect round of 25 targets, and walking away the High Gun winner with 71 targets out of 75 shot.
Brother Ricky was close behind shooting 68 targets to win AA grade.
Other winners include A grade’s Nick Kalogerakis with 68, Grant Scott in B grade with 61, Stephen Pask in C grade on 49, Vets winner Rocky Furci on 65, Vicki Norris from Kyabram taking out Ladies with 57, and Shepparton Junior Tom Bilney taking the win with 57.
The club’s next shoot is to be held on Sunday, September 17, with prizes generously sponsored by Echuca Furniture Stores.
This day will consist of 75 targets plus handicap, beginning at 10am at the clubs Barnes Road ground.
