ECHUCA swimmer Col Pearse produced another outstanding week of results during Adelaide’s Pacific School Games.

ECHUCA swimmer Col Pearse produced another outstanding week of results during Adelaide’s Pacific School Games.

The youngster would have struggled to fit all his medals in his luggage after racking up eight podium finishes as well as a bunch of Australian age records.

Top of the list of achievement was a triumph in the 200m individual medley, where he set an age record.

And he did the same winning the 100m backstroke in his S10 disability class.

There were also age records in the 100m freestyle (third overall), 200m freestyle (second) and the 50m butterfly (second).

His clear development as an athlete was on show with a personal best time in each of his races, something he said was a goal going in to the meet.

The 14-year-old was more than satisfied with his performances.

‘‘It was my fifth year going to the Games so I kind of knew how everything worked,’’ he said.

‘‘I was hoping mainly to get PB times, and the medals were just a bonus.’’

Training hard with six sessions a week, he was clear in his goals moving forward — to make the 2020 Paralympics.

‘‘I’ve got to keep training hard, keep my mindset focused on that and keep making sure I get all the basics right,’’ he said.
