AT ECHUCA Bowls Club, 104 intrepid bowlers faced the day with a predicted weather forecast of 40C.

So by 11am Eddy Smith and Maurie Spiers decided there would be two games of 10 ends played.

Veteran Geoff Tarrant, ably assisted by Max Bennett, organised the draw of 26 teams. Play began on two well prepared greens running fast but true.

There were six two-game winners. Carly Taylor ended up helping out and three teams did well to get three bowls within the yard stick.

In third place the team from Lockington. Captained by Ray Hanson, with Kevin Humbert, Graham Turner and Ian Johnson.

Runners up were the team from Mathoura.

Led by skipper Barry Ireland, L.Vallance, Wayne Cowley and Charlie Pippen took second.

Congratulations to the wining team from Tongala.

Skipper Barry Campbell led his team alongside lead bowler Graham Sellars, who had an outstanding day’s play, along with Ian Tanning and Chook.
