‘‘SILLY mistakes’’ are what cost Mathoura’s netballers the most in Saturday’s 36-goal loss to Blighty.
Table-toppers Blighty made light work of the Timbercutters, and went four wins without loss for the year in the process.
The 67-31 score line came about as Mathoura slumped further down the Picola and District Netball League ladder, with one win from its opening matches.
Timbercutters president Melyssa Banks said the team needs some time to set before it should be judged properly.
‘‘It was a bit hard to watch at times. There were just a few too many silly mistakes from our girls on the day I think, but they are coming together — it’ll just take time,’’ she said.
Banks said she felt the score line was lopsided and Mathoura perhaps should have put away more chances.
‘‘We’re still trying to get them to gel in the team and that’s because there is a whole bunch of new players, so that will take time.
‘‘The score doesn’t really reflect the game we saw out there yesterday (Saturday), they just made a few too many mistakes and Blighty capitalised,’’ she said.
Next up on the Timbercutters season list is Jerilderie at home on Saturday.
Jerilderie are winless after four games in the PDNL this season, and present a real chance for Mathoura to get back on the winners list.
That match will be played at in Mathoura, and will start at 2pm.
