Under 12s — Blue

Echuca United Blue and St. Augustine’s braved the cold wind in Merrigum on Friday night to play off in the Goulburn Campaspe Junior Football League round three clash.

The cold weather couldn’t stop the under 12’s giving it their all, in a character building game.

St. Augustine’s were well drilled and keen to get the show on the road with early scores on the board but Echuca United Blue showed plenty of heart fighting it out until the end.

This week’s awards went to — Jai Lloyd for consistent effort throughout the game, Nate Spiers, who always gives his best effort and this week was certainly no exception, Jackson Lewis stood out no matter what position he was in and played another great game of footy and Max Thornton continues to improve and was defending and chasing down the ball with great guts all game.

Echuca United Blue plays at Victoria Park tonight against Echuca Bombers from 7.30pm

Gold

Echuca United Gold travelled to Vic Park to take on Echuca Green on Friday night.

An undermanned side battled valiantly against a well drilled Echuca Green side.

Hunter Beveridge was in and under every play across halfback, while Lockie Sands was instrumental in United getting forward momentum all game.

Kurtis King provided a focal point across half forward and fought hard to keep the ball in our forward half, and Waylan Walsh was steadfast in the middle in the final quarter to stop a lot of the drive from the opposition when all were getting tired.

Cooper Boyd played a great game as a utility across the whole ground forward and back, wherever he was asked to play and despite the loss, with a few players back this week, we look forward to taking on LBU tonight to get another game under our belts.
