Women should join the cycle

May 22, 2018

Echuca Cycling Club race winner Russell Jeffreys comes across the line as second placed Trudy Stevenson comes up just short.

ECHUCA Moama Cycling Club and Cycling Victoria are encouraging women to saddle up and hit the tracks.

Cycling Victoria is encouraging clubs including the Echuca-Moama branch to run women’s participation rides.

Echuca Moama Cycling Club jumped on board and will run its own event on Saturday.

EMCC member Helen Crilly said she would be proud to ride her bike alongside more women.

‘‘I myself am a rider and a member of the EMCC and as our club is made up of over 90 per cent men, I would encourage any women to get on their bike and ride and maybe even race within our club,’’ she said.

‘‘It is a great opportunity for women within our community to get on board this initiative.’’

More information about the ride can be found on the EMCC Facebook page, and the Echuca Moama Triathlon Club has also posted the flyer on its page.

As EMCC has jumped on board for this event, Cycling Victoria has provided the club with 10 VIP licenses for women keen to race with the club for the rest of the season.

Race licences can cost more than $200 a season so it is an opportunity not to be missed.

To get on board, head to the club’s Facebook page.
